Is My Prayer Valid If I Only Have the Time to Say the Tahrima before the Time Exits?

Question: Assalam Alaikum,

Is saying the opening Takbir of the prayer before its time exits deemed praying in time?

Answer: Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.

Yes, the prayer is valid if you say the tahrima (“Allahu Akbar”) before the time exits.

However, if the time exits during Fajr, the prayer is invalidated, and you must wait until after sunrise before performing the prayer as a makeup (qada’).

Further, it is obligatory to start and finish the prayer within its time, and doing otherwise without legitimate excuse is wrong and sinful.

And Allah alone gives success.
