Does putting drops in one’s nose, ear or eye break one’s fast?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Drops in the nose, if they reach the throat, do break one’s fast according to our school and according to the majority of scholars.

As for the ear, the most correct position, as is in the Majmu`, is that the inside of the ear is a part of the body cavity, so a drop inside it would break the fast. But the opposing position is also a strong opinion of Imam al-Ghazali: that the inside of the ear is not part of the body cavity, so a drop inside it wouldn’t break the fast, and in this there is ease.

As for the eye, it is not part of the body cavity, nor is it an open passageway to the cavity, so in our school, drops in the eye don’t break the fast.
