Recording undue Zakaat in ones Last Will and Testament

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by TheMufti.com

Q. My Zakaat date falls in Ramadaan. If I pass away the same year before Ramadaan, do I have to mention it in my will?

A. Zakaat is payable on the maturity of ones Zakaatable year. Hence, if ones Zakaat date concurs with the Month of Ramadaan and one passes away before the Month of Ramadaan occurs, one will not be responsible for the paying or recording of Zakaat for that year in one’s Last Will and Testament.
