Can we have Ijtemaee dua after salaat?

Please tell me if we can do ijtemaee dua after salaat. If we can, then should we do with imam? We don’t know what the Imam sahib is saying. Our people saying just ameen ameen. Is it right. We say ameen ever.

You can recite amin while making dua behind an imam even if he is making it quietly which is better, or else he can make one of your own either of the two cases is correct.
