I am a 21 year old woman about to graduate from my undergrad college. I have been getting to know this boy who is the same age as mine and also about to graduate and has a job in a respective field. Through time we have both realized that we would like to get married. The only problem is that I am from Senegal and he is from Pakistan and both are parents are very cultural. We are not exactly sure how to bring this topic up to our parents without causing problems. We would really like to have a relationship in the halal manner and make sure that at the end of the day we are considering Islam as our top most priority and make any decision in the light of its teachings. Your advice will be extremely helpful in this matter.

Regarding this issue, we recommend that you try and involve any of your father or mother’s relatives, who are respected in your parents’ eyes, and have them convey this detail to your parents in the best manner possible. It is possible that this leads to a beneficial solution of this issue.
