How to Deal with Spontaneous Ejaculations?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Seekersguidance.org

Answered by Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat

Question: Assalamu alaykum

Sometimes sexual thoughts alone are sufficient to induce ejaculation, like a wet dream but while conscious. This is not intentional, though I can with effort prevent it. What is the legal ruling when this happens – is it sinful to allow it?

Answer: Wa ‘alaykum as-salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh

Thank you for your question.

You should attempt to prevent this from happening whenever possible. A bath is only required if semen is ejected from its source whilst one is experiencing sexual pleasure – even if actually exits the body once the sensation has gone (al-Maydani, al-Lubab).

In your situation, if it does occur you should treat it as filth (najasa) just like with pre-cum (madhi) or prostatic fluid (wadi), and wash it from your clothes before praying if it has sullied more than the area of a £2 coin of your clothes. (al-Lubab).

May Allah bless you with the best of both worlds.
