Does Dry Cleaning Remove Filth?

Question: Assalam alaykum

Does Dry Cleaning remove filth?

Answer: Assalamu alaykum

Contemporary scholars have disagreed on whether dry cleaning purifies clothing affected by impurity.

Some scholars, such as Mawlana Yusuf Ludhianvi, stated that dry cleaning does not purify clothing. Others, such as Mufti Nizam al-Din and Mufti Mahmud Hasan, have opined that it does.

This latter view seems to be the more correct view and more facilitative in a context where dry cleaning has become fairly widespread. However, as a precautionary measure, it would be optimal for an individual to actually wash the impure area prior to dry cleaning.
