I am a make up artist. I have recently reverted to Islam. Is being a make up artist pemissible in Islam? The products I use do not contain animal products or are tested on animals.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his folk, companions, and followers

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that you are well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good in this life and the next.

Applying makeup is in itself permitted–one is not held accountable for people wearing it in haram ways. However, it is best to strive (in the long term) to veer towards lines of work (within your field) where the normal use of your services is not problematic.

Please keep me in your duas.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
