Splashes from puddles

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I have a Q regarding the drops of water that go on the clothes after one has stepped on a puddle? I give dawa to a brother and he always says his clothes are (na-paak) not clean due to these drops.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam,

1. The default assumption regarding water, and other matter, is purity. Unless one is certain otherwise, one assumes the puddle’s water was pure.

2. However, it is good to avoid dirty things when reasonably possible.
