Coins fell out of pocket in prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

What is the proper course of action if some coins fall out of one’s pocket during salat, heads up, so that there are now images of the queen in front of one during prayer? If this happened in a mosque would the person concerned have made the whole prayer makruh tahrimi?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Given the size of the coins, and given that they are not in a ‘respected’ display, this would not render one’s prayer disliked. However, it would be disliked to prostrate on them directly (i.e. placing one’s head on the head side of the coin). [As understood from Kasani, Bada’i` al-Sana’i`; Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
