Useful Thoughts In Prayer

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

I sometimes have thoughts in prayer which are related to the other things I am doing in my life etc. sometimes they seem to be useful thoughts as well, but I lose concentration of what I am saying in the prayer. I even might forget the fact that I am praying wal3iyadhu billah. should I entertain other thoughts that come into my mind during salah, or should I keep them all out even if they might seem useful?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Prayer is a place for turning completely to Allah. When other thoughts occur, turn back to Allah by bringing the Divine Presence to your heart and mind, and make yourself focus outwardly on the actions of prayer (such as your recitation and invocation). Even if the thought it “useful,” leave it till after the prayer.

Allah Most High tells us,

“Establish prayer for My remembrance.”

And Allah alone gives success.
