Why don’t scholars talk about early marriage… do they teach us only what they want?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Why is it that there are at least 4 verses in the Quran that refers to marrying young girls but the people do not talk about them? They only teach us what they want us to know.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate. May Allah’s blessings and peace be on His Messenger Muhammad, and his folk, companions, and followers.

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I would disagree. The ulema generally encourage early marriage. As for how early, that depends on maturity and readiness to marry. Readiness has various aspects, including physical, social, and emotional readiness. Marriage before readiness leads to harm.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
