Undertaking an oath in anger: is kaffara required?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Ilyas Patel

If you could just provide me with a ”yes” or ”no” answer that would suffice insha’Allah. My friend made an oath and broke it, but it was in a fit of anger. Let me tell you what was said:

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

Yes the kaffara is required as he did not fulfil it, even though he was in a fit of anger.

And Allah knows best
