RE: Reciting behind the Imam

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Do we recite the “subhanakala humma wa bi hamdika…” when reading in a jamat, especially in the case that you are not reading behind a hanafi imam… or do we remain silent as in the rest of the prayer?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

One performs all the spoken dhikrs of the prayer except the ta`wwudh [saying A`udhu billahi min ash-shaytan ar-rajeem] and reciting Qur’an when praying behind the imam, as explained at http://www.sunnipath.com in several answers.

And Allah alone gives success.

Wassalam,
Faraz Rabbani
