The Stuff of Dreams

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

Can one see a deceased person in their dream. And if they see them is this the deceased person’s spirit they have come in contact with or is it something from the dreamers own imagination and memory.

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

Imagination and inspiration are the stuff of dreams. This is why it is possible to even see Allah in a ‘form’ in one’s dream; the stuff of dreams is not ‘reality.’

Whether what one sees is imagination based on matters latent in one’s mind or inspiration (and whether this inspiration is angelic or satanic) is something to ask scholars versed in dream interpretation.

As a matter of general policy, we do not interpret dreams on Sunni Path.

Wassalam,

Faraz Rabbani
