Moving the left hand while praying and excessive movement

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Qibla.com

Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani

While praying if we move the left hand does it invalidate the prayer and do we have say the takbir again and start the prayer from the beginning?

Answer:
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,

I pray that this finds you well, and in the best of health and spirits. May Allah grant you all good and success in this life and the next.

Moving the left hand would normally constitute slight movement, and such movements don’t invalidate the prayer. [ Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah ]

See:

How much movement invalidates prayer?

And Allah alone gives success.
