Is istikhara necessary if both parties have agreed to a suitable marriage?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
My parents have found a suitable match for me. Both myself and the male have spoken and agreed to this marraige. Both parties are happy and have no doubts.
Is istikhara still necessary?

Answer
Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Bismillahir rahmaanir rahim.

Dear Sister,

Alhamdulillah that your parents have found a suitable match for you and both parties are happy without any doubts to proceed with the nikah.

However, it is advisable to perform istikhara since seeking guidance in deciding huge matters like this should be asked from Allah as Allah is ‘Aleem (All Knowing). We might feel that something is in favour of us but Allah has destined otherwise. If after performing istikhara, your heart is inclined towards the nikah or you see a dream which the interpretation is to go ahead with the nikah, then by all means do so.

And Allah knows best.

Wassalam.
