Fasting on behalf of a deceased person

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible for a person to combine two or more intentions on fasting: the first intention is fasting to please Allah or for any other reason. the second intention is to replace the missed obligatory fasts of a deceased person even if that deceased person when living did not intend to make up for the missed obligatory fasts?

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible for any person to fast on behalf of another person. Hence it is impermissible for one to make two intentions; one for the sake of Allah Ta’ala and the second on behalf of the missed fast of a deceased person.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
