Terminating one’s Kaffara due to illness

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am on my 17 of 60th day for my Kaffarah. I went to the doctor the pills he gave have to be taken four times a day every 6 hours. Last night I got very sick to the point where I vomited 6 times. I have the stomach flu which is a different sickness from the one where I have to take the four pills for. Do I still continue fasting. Our fasts start around 6:03 and end at 4:42 pm.

Bismillaah

A: If you cannot manage keeping the fast due to the sickness, then it will be permissible for you to terminate the fast. However, once you recover you will have to recommence the kaffara.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
