Making five and a half rounds of sa’ee due to illness

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: A person went to perform Hajj from Chennai in a situation when doctors advised not to go for hajj as she has back bone disc problem. Any how she arrived for hajj. While performing saee, at safa marwa, only five and half rounds were completed and the remaining two rounds were not performed. What is the ruling , is the hajj valid without umrah being completed. Is sacrifice wajib as penalty – please advise.

A: If she came out of the ihraam of umrah and thereafter put on the ihraam of Hajj and completed the rituals of Hajj, the Hajj will be valid. However she will have to give the amount of sadaqatul fitr in charity for each round she had missed of the sa’ee. Since she missed one and a half rounds of sa’ee, she will give one and a half times the amount of Sadaqatul fitr in the country she is living in.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
