Completing one’s tasbeehaat while sitting in a bayaan

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Whilst sitting in a bayaan, some people instead of paying attention to what is being said, complete their tasbeehat, mamoolaat, etc. Is this not disrespect to the speaker?

Bismillaah

A: At the time one is participating in a bayaan, the adab requires that one remains focused listening attentively to the speaker. Completing one’s tasbeehaat, mamoolaat, etc at this time prevents one from listening to the speaker and is against the adab of the gathering. One should complete one’s tasbeehaat and mamoolaat at some other time.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
