Should a husband compensate his wife due to not sharing his nights equally in the past?

Q: My parents are old fashioned and did not accept polygamy. I got a good proposal from a man to be his 2nd wife. I accepted it and got married to him secretly without my parent and his parents knowing. His 1st wife on the other hand knew and was present with her parents as witnesses. Due to the secrecy of my nikaah my husband could not spend equal nights with us. I also have 2 small children who didn’t know that I was married because they might tell my ex husband and parents. He could only spend time with me when my children were not around. Later I moved in with my parents and although I asked him to come to me at night while they were asleep, he refused to because he was
scared that my parents and children might wake up and find us together and it will harm his and my izzat. We only managed to spend time together at hotels if I could take a break away from home but he refused to come to my parents home. After about 8 months my parents accepted and we made another nikaah for them. Since then we had equal nights. But what worries me and what I would like to reclaim are the nights he didn’t spend with me during those 8 months. I feel that he is indebted to me for it because he was with his other wife at that time we did not have equal time and I would like to reclaim my nights. His 1st wife says that I agreed on not having equal nights due to my
circumstance therefor I cannot reclaim those nights. Please give me the proper ruling.
