Sighting the moon with a telescope

Q: Will a sighting of the new moon of Ramadan be counted if it is sighted using a telescope? Or does it have to be seen with the naked eye?

A: The sighting will be valid.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

عن أبي هريرة : قال قال النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم لا تقدموا الشهر بيوم ولا بيومين إلا أن يوافق ذلك صوما كان يصومه أحدكم صوموا لرؤيته وأفطروا لرؤيته فإن غم عليكم فعدوا ثلاثين ثم أفطروا (ترمذي #684)
