Q: What are the different lengths of the zulfa and is it permissible to cut the protruding hair around the ear?
A: It is permissible for men to grow the hair till the shoulders. The length of the hair should be equal on all sides. To shape the hair round the ears as is the fashion today, is impermissible. However, if one did not shape the hair but only cut the few protruding strands to make it look presentable it will be permissible.
