Picking up the crumbs from the table

Q: Someone told me that if I pick up the crumbs etc. from the table/dastarkhaan then one will get pious kids. Is this true? And does this appear in some Hadith or something?

Picking up the crumbs from the table

A: Picking up the fallen morsels of food from the dastarkhaan is a Sunnah of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) which earns one great blessings and reward. However we have not come across this action being the means of pious offspring in the famous and authentic books of Hadith. Perhaps this is proven through the experience of pious people.
