What should be done with money found on the street?

Q: If you find money on the street and pick it up and intend to give it in sadqaah, is it allowed or should you just leave it there in case the owner comes looking for it?

Bismillaah

A: If you feel that the money will not be stolen by leaving it there, and the owner will find it, then you do not have to pick it up and look for the owner.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
