Son bathing his bedridden mother

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: In the case where a mother has only two children; a man and a woman, and the man is the only person taking care of his mother (who is bedridden), the daughter doesn’t have the capacity to assist, can the man clean her up and shower her by himself?

Bismillaah

A: This is not correct. The daughter is supposed to clean her mother and bath her. If the daughter is unable to fulfil this service, then the family should hire a caregiver to clean the mother and bath her.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
