Debunking Myths: Shia Muslims and the Label of ‘Kaafir’

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. Is it permissible to say that all Shia are Kaafir?

2. Is it true that one who doesn’t say that all Shia are Kaafir is a Munaafiq?

Bismillaah

A: The Shias that we know of believe in the distortion of the Quraan Shareef and reject the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu anhum), like the Shaykhayn etc. Hence, whoever rejects the Quraan Shareef, believes in the Quraan being distorted and rejects the Sahaabah (radhiyallahu anhum) is out of the pale of Islam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
