Bank charges being deducted from zakaat funds

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If a person sends zakaat money overseas to his poor relatives, and uses a money transferral service, e.g. mukuru/hellopaisa, they charge a commission.

For example, if I send R1000, maybe they charge R50. Will R1000 zakaat been discharged or the R50 commission issued be subtracted, and only 950 zakaat is discharged?

Bismillaah

A: Only R950 zakaat will be discharged.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
