Status of performing two rakaats after tawaaf

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. Please explain to me the status of the 2 rakats after tawaf, is it mandatory or nafil?

2. If someone does not offer these 2 rakats, should he have to offer qaza?

Bismillaah

A:

1. It is waajib (mandatory).

2. One should not delay in performing the two rakaats of salaah after the tawaaf. However, if one had delayed and performed it later on, it will not be regarded as qaza.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
