Taubah for one’s past

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I am worried about the sins I committed in my youth period. How can I get relaxed from this?

Bismillaah

A: For the taubah to be accepted one needs to be sincere in his taubah and remorseful for his past. He should promise Allah that he will never return to that sin and he should avoid all those things, areas and people that led him to that sin. Further, if in the process he had trampled and usurped the rights of others then he needs to make up for it. You should sincerely repent to Allah Ta’ala for your past and reform your condition. If you are sincere, Allah Ta’ala will definitely forgive you.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
