Are difficulties in this world a test from Allah Ta’ala or punishment?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. If someone has many problems and issues and failed in life everyway, could these be due to punishment from Allah? or test from Allah?

2. If Allah punishes someone in this world by giving him diseases and problems, does he needs to be patient?

3. Why do some people suffer and fail in this world but others get good in this world and next world (hereafter)?

Bismillaah

A:

1. There could be many reasons. However, the simplest thing is to ask Allah Ta`ala’s forgiveness and try your best to correct yourself.

2. Do what was explained above. Thereafter whatever comes from Allah Ta`ala is a blessing though you may not understand it. Hence patiently persevere.

3. It is pointless you asking these questions. This world does not belong to you nor to me. It belongs to Allah Ta`ala. He knows people, as well as what is better suited for one person and for the next. Just do your work and don’t interfere in the system of Allah.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
