Inheritance of government land

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My father had 24 acres of govt. land (horse growing scheme). We are 3 brothers and 6 sisters. My father died and the govt. land was given to my older brother as a govt. policy. Is this correct distribution according to Islam? If no, then what is the correct way of distribution?

Bismillaah

A: If this land belongs to the government then it is the right of the government to give it to the person of their choice.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
