Removing urine drops before making wudhu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have a medical problem. After I urinate, whenever I sit or stand urine drops comes out. So I am always in doubt whether I am clean to offer prayers or not. So I can only pray once a day after taking a bath. My Islamic life is not that much because of this problem. I miss almost 5 prayers a day because I am not clean. What do I do?

Bismillaah

A: It is important that after relieving oneself, one practises istibraa. This is where one will ensure that all the drops of urine come out before making wudhu. One method of doing it is by placing a piece of tissue around the private area and walk around or remain seated for 5 to 10 minutes until you are satisfied that whatever remaining drops needed to come out have come out. Thereafter make wudhu.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
