Saying ‘salam ya Allah’ and ‘Salam ya Muhammad’

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible to say ‘salam ya Allah’ and ‘salam ya Muhammad’?

Bismillaah

A: Allah is As-Salaam. So you cannot send salaam to Allah Ta`ala. And this is not the way to greet Nabi (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam). This is a fabrication. Leave out the fabricated style of greeting. Adopt the way that was practised by the sahaabah and the pious of the past.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
