Removing the ventilator or life support machine

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: What is the Islamic procedure for one who is on life support/a ventilator. Are there any conditions where it is allowed for the life support to be removed? Please clarify.

Bismillaah

A: It may be removed if it does not seem like the patient is on the path of recovery and his condition is just deteriorating and perhaps he is being artificially kept alive.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
