Consulting elders with regard to nikaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: My question is regarding the process before marriage. Let’s say one brother and sister who are looking for marriage find each other suitable. Where they are are encouraged to search for a bride/groom by their parents.

The sisters family are satisfied with the brother being religious, coming from a good family and being wealthy. Whereas the brother is still not sure. He showed interest about the above areas in the beginning, but not busy with work. Telling her it’s hecting but writing once a month.

How to deal with such situation? The sister and brother both met each other through a matrimonial site and are planning marriage in 2 years. Their profile are still active.

Bismillaah

A: They should refer their matter to their elders, and see and understand the situation. Thereafter they may confirm.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
