Nikaah Across Borders: How to Get Married When Living in Different Countries

Q:

1. I live in Kenya and I am engaged to a girl living in Bahrain. Is it possible to make nikaah while we in different countries?

2. If yes then how?

A:

1. If you are sure that you will fulfil all the obligations of nikaah then it is permissible.

2. She should appoint a representative to speak on her behalf at the time of the nikaah which should be conducted in the presence of two adult Muslim male witnesses.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
