Why was Hazrat Umar (Radiyallahu Anhu) titled “Abu Hafs”

Answered according to Hanafi Fiqh by

Q: Please can you inform me: What is the reason why Hadhrat Umar رضي الله عنه‘s Quniyyah is Abu Hafs.

ِA: This was the title given to him by Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam). Abu Hafs means a lion.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
