New Muslim referring to experienced righteous Muslims before getting married

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have a question and I am so confused. I want to marry a guy but the problem is I don’t want to tell my family about this nikaah because my father is not a Muslim. So should I marry him with telling my parents? This nikaah will be valid or not?

Bismillaah

A: Yes, it is preferable that you refer to some senior experienced righteous Muslims. Don’t do the nikaah interdependently of them.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
