Entering a room where non-mahram women are seated

Q: Is it permissible for a man to enter a room in which there is a dead person and a woman without purda on and recite quran without looking towards the woman?

Bismillaah

A: He should not be seated in the same room.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

Q: What if there are several men in the room?

Bismillaah

A: There should be segregation between non-mahram males and females. All should not be present together in the same room, neither at the time when the Janaazah is present in the room or at any other time.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ قُل لِّأَزْوَاجِكَ وَبَنَاتِكَ وَنِسَاءِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِن جَلَابِيبِهِنَّ ذَلِكَ أَدْنَى أَن يُعْرَفْنَ فَلَا يُؤْذَيْنَ وَكَانَ اللَّـهُ غَفُورًا رَّحِيمًا (سورة الأحزاب 59)

عن علي أنه كان عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه و سلم فقال أي شيء خير للمرأة فسكتوا فلما رجعت قلت لفاطمة أي شيء خير للنساء قالت لا يراهن الرجال فذكرت ذلك للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال إنما فاطمة بضعة مني رواه البزار وفيه من لم أعرفه (مجمع الزوائد #15200)

عن أم سلمة قالت كنت عند رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وعنده ميمونة فأقبل ابن أم مكتوم وذلك بعد أن أمرنا بالحجاب فقال النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم احتجبا منه فقلنا يا رسول الله أليس أعمى لا يبصرنا ولا يعرفنا فقال النبى صلى الله عليه وسلم أفعمياوان أنتما ألستما تبصرانه (سنن أبي داود #4114)

عن عائشة قالت كان الركبان يمرون بنا ونحن مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم محرمات فإذا حاذوا بنا سدلت إحدانا جلبابها من رأسها إلى وجهها فإذا جاوزونا كشفناه (سنن أبي داود #1835)
