Feeding a pious person

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I read if a Muslim feeds a pious person, he gets the reward of the pious person’s actions for 40 days. Is this a Saheeh hadith? What is the reference and is it suitable to quote?

Bismillaah

A: We have not come across this Hadith in the authentic and reliable compilations of Hadith. Until one does not source the Hadith from the reliable and authentic sources and one does not understand the correct context in which the Hadith has been explained by Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), it is incorrect and unfair for one to quote the Hadith.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
