Gathering to recite Qur’an and convey the reward to the deceased

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Can Mufti Saheb please advise if it is permissible to gather in the Madrasah next to the mosque to read Surah Yaseen for a foreign national who’s father has passed on. Is it permissible to gather to read the Qur’an and send esaal-e-thawaab or is it bidah?

Bismillaah

A: This should be done individually in people’s own time and space.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
