Q: Is it a major sin to leave the Qur’an open?

Bismillaah

A: No, however if one is not reciting from it, then it should be closed and kept with respect on a high place.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

ذَٰلِكَ وَمَن يُعَظِّمْ شَعَائِرَ اللَّـهِ فَإِنَّهَا مِن تَقْوَى الْقُلُوبِ ﴿الحج: ٣٢﴾
