Question:
We are performing duties in a defence organisation situated in a remote area from the city or town where Jumu’ah prayer is
possible. Some of the workers perform morning duties from 0800 to 1600hrs daily for five days in week including Jumu’ah. Some personnel perform shift duties (evening/morning) uncertain in arranging Namaz-baa-Jamaat in the same mosque. There is security risk in going for Jumu’ah from our duty place to the nearby towns or city. Majority of the people among us perform Jumu’ah and some peoples perform Zuhr Prayer on the basis of some FATWAS. I want to know the actual reality on the bases of Hadith for Jumu’ah or Zuhr in this area. Also please tell me if Eid prayer is possible in a mosque where there is no arrangement of Jumu’ah.
Answer:
Based on the information you sent to us, the area in which you work is regarded as Finaa ul Misr (the outskirts of the city). Therefore you should perform Jumu’ah prayers in this area and not the Thuhr Salaah. The Eid prayers can also be performed there as it is suitable for Jumu’ah prayers.
