Question:
My question relates to organ donation. Is it permissible and what Qur’anic verses or hadith are available to substantiate your answer. Many thanks.
Al-Ameen
Answer:
If a healthy person in light of the opinion of medical experts is sure that no fatal injuries will be afflicted on his/her survival, health, then it will be permissible for him/her to donate an organ, e.g. a kidney (without taking anything in exchange, monetary or otherwise) if it is necessary to save a patient’s life while no other alternative is available.
