Question:

Is it permissible for a Muslim to keep a parrot in a cage as a pet?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

It is permissible to keep a parrot in a cage as a pet as long as it is properly cared for. Some Sahabahs Radiallahu Anhum used to keep birds as pets. [1]
