Question

Assalamualikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu..

I really want to get the knowledge of Deen but I don’t even want to leave my school so the only option that I am left with is attaining Deen online. So my question is that is it permissible to Attain Deen online and if it is permissible can you please tell me a website that is appropriate for me to follow.Jazakalahu khairan..Assalamualikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuhu.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

We commend you on your enthusiasm to study Deen.

Muhammad Ibn Sireen (Rahimahullah) advises,[1]

إن هذا العلم دين؛ فانظروا عمن تأخذون دينكم

Translation: “Verily this knowledge is Deen, so be careful from whom you take your Deen.”

There are many ways of gaining Islamic knowledge. The best and safest approach is by learning directly under the guidance of a learned and qualified scholar. This has been the ongoing practice from the time of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) to this day and age.

We understand that this may not be practical in certain situations. However, the internet is a dangerous place and a source of uncertainty. Unfortunately, there are many self-proclaimed scholars who lack the skills and information required to lead people in the right direction. It is therefore important for one to link themselves with their local scholars whom they can approach for advice and guidance on issues.

Our advice is to first study some simple books of Fiqh authored by reliable Ulama. You may consider the following books.
