Can a Person Incorporate Sitting and Standing in One Salah

Answered by: Maulana Muhammad Asadullah Anwar Adam

Question

Can a person incorporate sitting and standing in one salah?

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

Answer:

There are two cases when standing and sitting can be incorporated in one salah

1:If one starts salah standing then becomes incapable of completing it while standing due to an illness or pain they should complete it sitting. [1]

So you can start standing and pray whatever you are capable of praying standing without any harm then sit when are no longer capable of praying without any harm even if it is only to say takbir or read a few ayats.[2]

2:If one starts salah sitting due to an excuse, then he becomes healthy during the salah he should continue his salah standing.[1]
