Is it permitted to give Zakat to a Syed?
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Answer:
The giving of sadaqah or zakat to the Syed family is clearly impermissible. If one wishes to help Syed families then one should give gifts. (Kitabul Nawazil page 120 vol 7)
Giving Zakat to the children of Banu Hashim and its progeny is clearly forbidden due to the hadith of Imam Bukhari the Prophet peace be upon him mentions we are the Ahle Bait and for us charity is impermissible. (Bahr Raiq page 246 vol 2)
